Flightscope Mevo Plus Review - Here’s What I Think.

If you're anything like me, you've probably tried out quite a few launch monitors in your golfing career. 

Always in search of that perfect tool that can take our game to the next level, right? 

Well, recently, I heard some buzz about Flightscope’s latest launch monitor, the Mevo Plus. 

So, naturally, I had to give it a swing. 

I've now spent a good month trying it out, and let's just say I've got quite a few thoughts to share.

Below, I'll be detailing what exactly the Mevo Plus is all about, its standout features, and what the rest of the golfing community has been saying about it. 

But most importantly, you'll want to stick around until the end because that's when I'll delve into my personal experience using the Mevo Plus, spill the beans, and let you know whether it delivered on its promises or swung into the rough. 

So let's dive right in, shall we?

Mevo+ 2023 Edition Key Features

Getting down to the nitty-gritty, here are some of the key features of the latest Mevo+ 2023 Edition that I've had the pleasure (and challenge) of testing out:

• 20 Data Parameters: The Mevo+ goes beyond surface-level metrics, giving you access to over 20 full swing and short game data parameters. And for those who crave even more detail, there's the Mevo+ Pro Package. This upgrade unlocks over 20 additional parameters, including short game and D-Plane data.

• Upgraded kickstand: The new edition features an upgraded kickstand for better stability, ensuring reliable performance every time. Stability is key, and with the upgraded kickstand, the Mevo+ stands firm and ready to capture every swing, helping you get the most accurate readings possible.

• Extended Battery Life: With up to 3 hours of battery life, you've got ample time for those long practice sessions.

• 10 E6 Connect Simulated Golf Courses (iOS and PC): The Mevo+ 2023 Edition offers a comprehensive list of 10 golf courses, including Aviara in California, The Belfry in England, and even a fantasy course. There are also 17 practice ranges to choose from, all designed to test your skills and keep your practice sessions engaging.

• Free software included: The Mevo+ comes pre-packaged with a suite of powerful software tools like FS GolfApp, FS Skills App, and FS PC Software. The FS Golf App allows for fully customizable data and video analysis, including setting data margins, customizing your trajectory view, and even combining data and video. Meanwhile, the FS Skills App lets you assess your performance with a comprehensive combined assessment and design customized challenges based on identified weaknesses.

  Fusion Tracking Technology: The Mevo+ uses patented Fusion Tracking technology, which combines 3D Doppler tracking radar tech with synchronized high-speed image processing. This tech cocktail gives you accurate and consistent data on every shot, be it indoors or outdoors.

• Simulation & Games: Apart from owning 10 courses and 17 practice ranges, you can further enhance your golf simulation experience with FlightScope performance data, available on both iOS and PC platforms. Plus, the new FS Golf for PC software, which offers comprehensive customization, averages tracking, and a handy split-screen feature.

• FlightScope Multicam: This feature lets you automatically record and sync videos from multiple cameras (up to three mobile devices plus your FlightScope Mevo+ internal camera) for instant review on your iOS devices.

Mevo+ Pro Package: Worth The Investment?

I write a lot about golf on my golf blog, and I felt I had to mention that the Mevo+ does have a couple of software upgrades available; the Pro Package and Face Impact Location upgrade. 

Yes, the Pro Package comes with an $899 price tag, but it might be worth considering, especially if you're serious about improving your golf game, so let me break down what you're getting for that.

• More than just an add-on, the Pro Package is a treasure trove of golf tech, unlocking access to over 20 additional parameters, including club path, face angle, swing plane, and more. All these are powered by FlightScope's patented Fusion Tracking technology, providing a level of accuracy that's simply unmatched.

• The Pro Package also brings in D-Plane data for both full swing and chipping, giving you a comprehensive understanding of your game that can't be achieved with basic data sets alone. 

• Now, here's the icing on the cake: you get to unlock all these data parameters not just in the FlightScope apps but also in their simulation partners' applications. So, whether you're working on home simulated golf or taking on Skills Challenges, you'll have all the data you need right at your fingertips.

• The Pro Package also includes the FS Golf PC 2.0 Software, which is an additional $99 value. This helps you practice with a purpose, offering a more comprehensive and customizable experience.

So, is the Mevo+ Pro Package worth the investment? 

It's certainly not cheap, and critics would be quick to point out that it costs almost half as much as the Mevo+. 

But if you're looking for a way to level up your game like never before, the Pro Package may just be the investment that pays off big time.

You might also want to consider pairing the Mevo Plus with a good golf rangefinder to really level up your game.

My Experience With The Mevo+ 2023 Edition

I’ve used the Mevo+ 2023 Edition for the past month, and here’s my honest opinion of how it performs.

• The moment I unpacked the device, I was quite impressed with the upgraded kickstand and how portable it was. And being an outdoor person, I was excited to see how it would perform in both indoor and outdoor settings.

• The set-up was straightforward, and the battery life was pretty impressive, lasting up to 3 hours. I found the Fusion Tracking technology quite innovative, providing an impressive amount of accuracy in tracking golf shots. The fact that the Mevo+ offered over 20 data parameters was a definite plus. This really enabled me to understand my swing and performance in depth.

• When it comes to virtual golf courses, they added an extra layer of fun to the whole experience. Having access to 10 simulated golf courses, including well-known ones like Aviara and Bay Hill, was a fantastic way to feel like I was playing around the world without actually having to leave my backyard.

• The apps included - FS Golf App and FS Skills App - offered a great deal of customization. The ability to overlay performance data onto recorded video was a neat feature that really helped me analyze my swing in depth. The multicam feature was a great teaching tool that I believe instructors would find incredibly useful.

• Now, not everything was a bed of roses. Like Hugh mentioned in his review, getting the Mevo+ dialed in with the different applications took me a bit of time and was occasionally frustrating. But once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing from there. The Mevo+ has been spot-on during club fittings and teaching sessions, and the accuracy of the data provided has been truly commendable.

• A little over two weeks into my testing, I was so impressed with the Mevo+ that I decided to pay for the Pro Package upgrade option. I'll be the first to admit dropping $899 on the Pro Package seemed a little steep at first, but hear me out. The package has been an absolute game-changer, especially the complete D-Plane dataset. The range of data and analysis is just incredible. Although it's an expensive add-on that some golfers might feel should be included as standard, I feel it’s well worth the cost and would definitely recommend it to any serious golfer who really wants to understand and improve their game.

To sum up, my experience with the FlightScope Mevo+ has been extremely positive overall, and it’s definitely one of the best launch monitors I’ve ever bought. 

Its impressive data analysis, ease of use, and fun golf simulations make it a fantastic tool for any golfer looking to take their game to the next level.
